Dylan Smith Doubles Up
As teams approach midway through the season some wonder if their luck will change, if the bugs will ever work their way out, if their luck ends, or even if their luck will continue. Dylan Smith was one driver who answered every one of those questions on Wednesday. Smith went into the season as a favorite to win the 2016 championship but his luck thought otherwise. With a never quit attitude his team threw everything they could at the kart to turn bad luck into triumph. Dylan Smith left June 8th with his first win of the season. With 5 different open feature winners in 8 races, back to back winners were hard to come by this season. Smith beat the odds and took his Grease Monkey of Salisbury number 03 to the checkered flag ahead of 20 SKE Open Division karts to claim his second win of the season on June 22. Tom Hubert went quick time earlier in the evening and finished 3rd behind Buddy Wise in the feature.
The JGRMX Intermediate division was all Carson Kvapil until lap traffic gave Ty Gibbs a head of steam on the last lap. Gibbs would catch Kvapil in turn 4 coming to the checkered but didn’t have quit enough time to get around Kvapil for the win. Carson Kvapil would win his 4th Wednesday points race. Ty Gibbs finished a close second, Kyle Craker third, Roy Hayes fourth, and Alex Bodine fifth. Cole Hilton was the winner of the RGS Products 125 division.
After a couple of heartbreaking losses in the QRC Box Stock division, Eli Adams finally took his Durst sponsored QRC into victory lane. Tyler Letarte had an impressive second place run ahead of Tyler Beckham, Hunter Kohn, and Joey Robinson.
The Simpson Beginner Box Stocks had a rough start with multiple caution flags, but after they regrouped they put on a stellar show as always. Friends off the track but rivals on the track, Tyler Dolack and Kynzer Flynn duked it out for the win. Dolack dove his blue 19 Kool Cat Ice Cream kart hard into turn four, bounced off the side of Flynns kart to take the checkered flag. Ethan Burdett snuck by to finish second, Flynn finished third, Meendering fourth, and Dyszelski fifth.
The next event will bring fireworks on and off the track as The House of Fireworks Night and outlaw karts collide! July 6th gates open at 5, engine warm ups at 6:30, heat racing at 8! $12 adult admission, Kids 7-12 $8 admission, 6 and under free!
