KKM Giveback Classic Returning; Chili Bowl Ride Up for Grabs

Millbridge Speedway officials and Keith Kunz Motorsports have announced the return of the KKM Giveback Classic Presented by TRD after a one-year hiatus, slated for November 2-4, 2020 at Millbridge Speedway in North Carolina. Once again, the grand prize for the winner of the event will be a Chili Bowl ride with the potent Keith Kunz Motorsports.

After being an Outlaw Kart event in 2018, the KKM Giveback Classic will now feature the 600cc Non-Wing Micro Sprints and a new format. Monday, November 2 will be an open practice night for teams, with Tuesday night reserved for qualifying and heat races. Wednesday, November 4 will have qualifiers and mains, with a 67-lap A-Feature to decide the winner of the 2nd KKM Giveback Classic.

In addition to a KKM ride in the Chili Bowl, the race will also pay $5,000 to the winner. If the winning driver is ineligible to compete in the Chili Bowl due to age or if he/she already has a ride for the event, the winner will receive a $10,000 bonus.

Keith Kunz’s goal for the 2020 KKM Giveback Classic was to give the event a more Midget event-like feel.

“Jeremy and Ashly Burnett at Millbridge Speedway, we got together and we decided to have the KKM Classic Presented by TRD again, but this time we’re going to do it with Outlaw Non-Wing Micros. We’re actually going to have a format that we’re more used to with Midgets and the Chili Bowl,” Kunz told Speed51.com. “We want to see the guys qualify, so there will be qualifying for them. It’s pretty unusual for the Micros. Then there will be a heat race/qualifier format from there on to the features.

“We’re going to make it a 67-lap race, which is one of our car numbers,” he added. “We want to see these guys go a little bit longer than the traditional 30 laps.”

It will be the third high-profile event Millbridge Speedway has held late in the season in as many years. Track owners Jeremy and Ashly Burnett are looking forward to the opportunity to see Micro Sprints back on track after last season’s TRD Micro Showdown.

“Jeremy and I are really excited for everything that Keith and everyone at TRD and Toyota have done for us. They’ve basically changed our racetrack and our lives,” Ashly Burnett said. “We’re really honored to be back with Keith again. We’re excited to see what the Micro Sprint guys can do and we are excited to showcase the Micro Sprints. We’re always Outlaw Kart people and we are excited to showcase them, but we’re excited to show something else in short track racing as well.”
