Saturday Race Time Change!

Due to the cold temperatures forcasted for Saturday April 9th we have moved our start time up to 1pm for hot laps with racing at 2.  The gates will open at 11am.  We hope to see you all there!

Hubert, Hayes, Kohn and Dyszelski Find Victory Lane!

With over 60 karts in the pit area for just four classes people were in for an action packed night of racing!  All classes began a new format this week which included group qualifying and inverting the top 4 qualifiers in each heat race!  This proved for some exciting action throughout the night.  Danny Dyszelski was the only driver to back up his performance from opening night by winning the Beginner Box Stock Feature for the 2nd week in a row!  2015 Beginner Box Stock Champion Hunter Kohn moved up to the Box Stock division and in his 2nd race of the season found victory lane in a dominating way.  In the new Intermediate Division Roy Hayes gave his father a nice birthday present by winning the heat race and the feature in our largest ever intermediate field.  Highside Tom Hubert returned to victory lane starting from the pole position. Heat race 1 winner Devin Boutot had to roll the Give Graphics dice which resulting in a invert of the top 4 starters for the feature.  Millbridge will be back in action again with the Outlaw Karts on Wednesday April 6th.  If you missed out on the action this week or just want to watch it again check out www.Speed51.com for highlights from Wednesday nights race.

Season Opener recap!

_DSC5810 _DSC5900 _DSC5667 _DSC5751
A beautiful Carolina day was upon us and everyone was anxiously awaiting race time.  The off season was only a couple months long but to some it felt like an eternity.  During the very short off season the track went through multiple upgrades and changes.  All the wooden walls were torn down and new steel walls were put in their place.  Forty sponsor billboards lined the backstretch two high and a catch fence was installed in both corners.  Jimmy Elledge would be the first to collect quick time but bad luck would catch him in the heat race with a blown motor.  With 21 karts signed in to the open division, a B Main followed and only four karts would advance to the A main.  Tom Hubert, Mark Pollardi, Tony Mangini, and Brandon Dean would be the lucky four to continue their night.  Charley McDonald, Emma Francis, and Mason Elkes were our first cadet feature.  With cadets being a starter class no winner is crowned as parents use this class as a practice session before moving their child into the next division.
With most of the field in beginner box stocks moving up to box stocks everyone wondered if a full field would still be had.  Thirteen kids under the age of 8 made up the field for opening night.  Danny Dyszelski took off from the field and didn’t look back.  Ethan Burdett was strong in second until a mishap under caution caused Landen Elkes to drive over Burdetts engine ending his night.  Landen Elkes would fight back to finish second, Tyler Dolack third, Matthew Francis fourth, and newcomer Jacob Monsour finished a strong fifth.
Some argue the Box Stock feature was the best of the night.  Just like the beginners thirteen karts filled the field for their class as well.  The race was a splitting image of the beginner box stock events last year as Eli Adams and Caden Kvapil battled for the win yet again.  Eli inched Caden at the line for the win.  Crews came back through the field after an early chain issue to finish third, Skylar Chaney fourth, and Zac Israel fifth.
Ty Gibbs and Gage Painter battled for the lead in the early laps of the intermediate feature until Painter clipped the turn four wall causing him to flip.  Ty Gibbs would take his first Wednesday night feature win followed by Taylor Gray, Carson Kvapil, Roy Hayes, and Tucker Scanlon.
Chad Bush led the open feature until a late caution when Ethan Mitchell took the lead coming out of turn two.  Dylan Smith charged up to second, Adam Welch third, Tom Hubert fourth, and Chaz Woodward fifth.  Watch the full replay on speed51.com.  The DNQ Karting series will be back in action next Wednesday and the outlaw karts will be back March 23.  Millbridge Speedway would like to thank all of our employees, fans, drivers, teams, and sponsors for their continued support and hard work.

Four Free Video Streams at Millbridge Speedway on Speed51.com

Millbridge Speedway in Salisbury, NC is the home of Outlaw Kart racing in the Southeast. Today track officials are excited to announce that Speed51.com will be broadcasting four races from Millbridge Speedway in 2015.

QRC, which builds championship winning Outlaw Karts and is celebrating its 25th year of business, is helping to provide the free video stream of the four nights of racing action from the dirt track.

The broadcast schedule from Millbridge Speedway will begin with the season opener at the 1/6-mile dirt oval on Wednesday night, March 9. In addition to that event, Speed51 TV will also stream the season-ending Battle at the Bridge event, as well as two other races to be announced at a later date.

“I love short track racing; I love dirt racing, and I love watching some of racing’s future superstars battle it out in Outlaw Karts,” said Bob Dillner, Speed51.com’s Executive Editor. “That’s why I love Millbridge Speedway and that’s why I’m so excited for Speed51 TV to broadcast these races. Jeremy and Ashly (Burnett) have creating a competitive family atmosphere and it’s exciting to see it all continue to gain momentum. We are pleased to be able to extend our partnership together.”

By broadcasting the events live on Speed51.com, short track racing fans who may otherwise not be able to attend Millbridge will be able to witness the exciting racing action that takes place at the North Carolina dirt track. Fans will also be able to check out the very impressive improvements made to the facility to get a tease of what they’d experience by sitting in the grandstands.

“We are very excited to bring the fans four free broadcasts of our weekly events,” said Ashly Burnett, co-owner of Millbridge Speedway along with her husband, Jeremy. “We feel that being able to showcase our events across the nation helps the growth of not only our track, but the local dirt tracks across the country. We are also excited to show everyone all the improvements we made in the offseason, including new walls, improved lighting, new catch-fencing and new partnership billboards. We would like to thank QRC Karts and Speed51.com for coming on board to make these broadcasts free for our fans. They both have always been big parts of our success here.”

In addition to these four events, Speed51.com will also broadcast the biggest event of the year at Millbridge Speedway. On May 24-25 Speed51 Open presented by QRC Factory Karts and JGR MX will pay $5,151 to what winner of the Open Class. The Speed51 Open is the richest payday in Outlaw Karting history. The broadcast will be a pay-per-view event on Speed51.com and will pit some of the toughest competitors in all of racing, including World of Outlaws and NASCAR stars, against each other in the fast, lightweight Outlaw Karts.

Awards Banquet Set For January 8

As the winter season begins, Millbridge Speedway prepares to crown five new champions. The summer season brought a lot of exciting finishes, big crashes, and unexpected turn of events. Millbridge will crown Hunter Kohn as the beginner box stock champion. Hunter completed his 2nd full season on top of his division. This eight year old knows how to put his outlaw kart on the podium with one win, ten top 3’s and fourteen top 5’s! Hunter has already moved up, along with a lot of his racing peers, to the box stock division in the winter season. Watch out for him to be a contender for a win in the 2016 season. Caden Kvapil finished 2nd in points, Aidan Turner finished 3rd, Kynzer Flynn took 4th, and Tyler Dolack rounded out the top 5. Caden Kvapil will be crowned beginner box stock Saturday champion, Hunter Kohn 2nd, and Tiffany Claridge 3rd.

Kyle Campbell took off with the box stock and the intermediate division championship. Kyle took the trophy home a combined 17 times in two divisions. He finished in the top 3 positions 26 times and came home top 5 30 times this season. In box stocks, Gavan Boschele finished 2nd, Richard Gould finished 3rd, Olivia Penney finished 4th, and Taylor Gray 5th. Olivia Penney will take home the Saturday box stock champions trophy, Jordyn Bregoli 2nd, and Cole Hilton 3rd. In the intermediate division Carson Kvapil followed Campbell to take home 2nd, Tucker Scanlon 3rd, Alex Bodine 4th, and Roy Hayes 5th. Carson Kvapil won the Saturday intermediate championship ahead of George Hayes and Roy Hayes.

No surprise that Max McLaughlin took off with the open division points. Max completed his season with 9 wins, 13 top 3’s, 15 top 5’s. Max added two big wins to his resume winning the Millbridge Showdown in September and Speed 51 Battle at the Bridge in November. Tom Hubert finished 2nd in open points, Dylan Smith 3rd, Adam Welch 4th, and Ethan Mitchell 5th. Nick Tucker won the Saturday open championship ahead of Chad Bush and Hunter Richards.

Along with outlaw karts, Millbridge welcomed the SS Late Models to the lineup this summer. Brandon Hinson won the championship, Nick McMillan finished 2nd, and Ryan Sharp 3rd. Brandon won 3 feature events, finished top 3 in 8 features, and had 11 top 5’s.

All drivers will be honored Friday, January 8th at the Spare Time Bowling Alley in Huntersville. Tickets are $20 and will be available to purchase at the door.

Dylan Smith Takes Winter Series Race #2

When most racetracks are closed for the winter, Millbridge Speedway begins a four event winter series run. December 19th was the second event of the series. The day started out cold but soon warmed up and turned into a beautiful crisp day for racing. The pits were full just as they are during the summer series. A total of 55 karts were ready to do battle in only five divisions. Ethan Mitchell started the day out strong after getting the pole in the open division qualifying with a lap time of 10.311. Emma Francis (sister to Matthew Francis in the beginner division and daughter of Kenny Francis) made a last lap pass to win the cadet feature ahead of Dallas Griggs, Ethan Holzbaur, and Taylor Elenz.

Nine karts filled the field for the beginner feature. Danny Dyslenski won his first outlaw kart feature. Landen Elkes finished 2nd, Ethan Burdett came back from a hard wreck in his heat race to finish 3rd, Tyler Dolack 4th, and Matthew Francis 5th. An impressive thirteen box stocks fielded their feature division. Wyatt Underwood took over the lead from Eli Adams at the half way mark of their feature. Eli Finished a close 2nd, Jason Gibbs 3rd, Skylar Chaney 4th, and Tyler Beckham 5th. Carson Kvapil took home the trophy in the intermediate division holding off Gage Painter, Kyle Campbell, Roy Hayes, and Tucker Scanlon. Dylan Smith took the open feature holding off the pole sitter, Ethan Mitchell. Devin Boutot finished 3rd, Kyle Craker 4th, and Nick Tucker 5th. The next winter series event will be January 9th when the DNQ Karting Series will combine with the outlaw karts for a full day of racing.
